The Block Jug was created by Tom Dixon for his design company Tom Dixon.
Since 2002, Dixon‘s company has pioneered innovative designs and materials in the furniture and lighting industry. An untrained designer, Dixon proved to be a talented professional with a rising profile in the 80s with his stylish S chair design for the Italian furniture giant Cappellini. In 2007, Dixon launched an interior and architectural design studio called Design Research Studio. His work is displayed at the MoMA in New York, London‘s Victoria and Albert Museum and the Pompidou Centre in Paris, among other prestigious institutions.
The sculptural Block Jug from Dixon‘s Design Studio is part of the company‘s Block collection. A product of Portugal, this earthenware design comprises cylindrical shapes stacked over each other to form a unique but functional jug. Each piece in this line is slip cast for uniformity and hand-glazed for an original identity. Despite its distinctive design, this food-grade jug does an excellent job of storing liquids in the kitchen and living room. The Block Jug measures 35cm in height, 18.3cm in width and 18.3cm in length and has a durable and stylish ceramic handle.
