The 209 Pure Materials Armchair with Wickerwork was designed in-house for the brand Thonet.
The company was the first manufacturer to establish techniques to produce bent wood furniture, enabling them to create a system of furniture mass production. After the death of the founder Michael, his sons created new work processes and developed new machines to further develop designs and manufacture innovative new pieces of furniture. The design of the 209 Pure Materials Armchair with Wickerwork so impressed the Swiss architect Le Corbusier that he based many of his buildings on its form.

The chair consists of 6 parts and resembles a sculpture. The chair's width is a comfortable 54cm, the height is 75cm the depth is 57cm and the seat height is 46cm. This item is made from lacquered ash wood and has a wickerwork seat with a reinforced plastic frame located beneath it.
