The St. Thomas Poly Rattan Stool designed by Hans Thyge for the Danish furniture label Skagerak is a superb piece of garden furniture.
Thyge's work always seeks harmony, whether that's in the choice of materials or the sinuous curves of his designs, and this stool is a great example of that. Instead of choosing a standard box shape it is delicately rounded, both at the level of the seat and around the sides, creating a striking effect.
This stool is covered with a fine rattan mesh. The rattan is a sensible choice, as it is light, easy to work with and, most importantly, extremely weather-resistant. You can be sure that if this St. Thomas Poly Rattan Stool is left out in a rain shower, it won't lose its finish. In fact, it will remain attractive for years, whatever the weather.
The stool is 37.5 cm tall, ensuring it will slip neatly underneath Skagerak garden tables. The seat measures 47 cm square, and is designed to sag slightly at the centre, making it extra comfortable, while the rattan mesh is supported by a durable aluminium frame, making it extremely hard to damage, but light enough to move easily.
