The stylish Ella Plastic Rug 70x225cm was designed by Lina Rikardsson for the design manufacturer Pappelina.
Papellina was founded by Rikardsson in 1993 and has become internationally renowned for it's rugs. Each piece is woven in a mill close to Rikardsson's home in Sweden using traditional methods. Although originally popular in the 1950's and 60's, plastic rugs are experiencing a revival due to their great appearance, durability and ease of cleaning.
The Ella Plastic Rug 70x225cm is weaved on a loom using wooden shuttles. It is formed using plastic foils that have been created from raw plastic, ensuring no hazardous heavy metals or harmful softeners make their way into the finished product. Welded ribbon ensures strength and durability, meaning the rug can be used in areas with heavy foot fall such as in the living room or as a hallway runner. It can also be used in the kitchen or bathroom due to its water resistance, and thanks to its robustness, it can even be used outside, making it a truly versatile addition. The rug can be hand or machine washed to keep it looking at its best.
