The stylish Asta Plastic Rug 70x90cm was designed by Lina Rikardsson for the design manufacturer Pappelina.
Rikardsson founded the rug manufacturer Pappelina in 1998 and specialises in weaving plastic rugs in a mill close to her home in Sweden. Plastic rugs were originally popular in the 1950's and 60's, but they're are experiencing a revival due to their durability and ability to keep clean.
The Asta Plastic Rug 70x90cm is created using a foil that is made of raw plastic. This ensures that no environmentally hazardous heavy metals or harmful softeners are used to make the rug, which is created on a traditional loom using wooden shuttles. With welded ribbon for strength, each rug can be hand or machine washed to keep it looking its best. Suitable for use in areas with heavy footfall due to its durability, or in the kitchen or bathroom due to its water resistance, the rug is available in a variety of colours to suit your interior colour scheme. Additionally, due to the robustness of the materials used, the rug can even be used outside, making it a truly versatile and eye catching addition.
