The Umanoff Suspension Lamp has been created by Arthur Umanoff for the brand Menu. American-born industrial designer Umanoff had a reputation as an advocate and influencer of the mid-century movement towards modernity. He believed that designs should not just be attractive and functional, but also within reach of the majority, resulting in products that were versatile, innovative and durable.
The Umanoff Suspension Lamp is one of the designs created by this forward-thinking designer. He defied convention to create an outstanding lamp that has a shining outer shade with curved sides and an inner shade made of glass. Juxtaposing the two has an effect of creating a beautiful play of light when the lamp is turned on. The light is cast downwards and its soft, warm glow is enhanced by the shine of the outer brass shade. The lamp is suspended from the ceiling with a 400cm cable, with a cone-shaped walnut bracelet linking the shade and the cable. The magnificent Umanoff Suspension Lamp is 34cm in height, 13.5cm in diffuser diameter and has a canopy with a 11.5cm diameter. It looks gorgeous hanging over a dining table in homes and restaurants. The appropriate bulb with the E27 socket can be ordered under accessories.
