Cast Shape 1 Suspension Lamp

The Cast Shape 1 Suspension Lamp was designed by Jordan Murphy and Tom Chung for the brand Menu. The duo are based in Toronto, Canada. Chung is an industrial designer whose areas of focus are materials, objects and space. He seeks to incorporate current cultural conditions and local industry in his designs. Murphy, a furniture design graduate, specialises in creating pieces that are simple yet functional. Their common interest in designing functional, unique pieces has seen them collaborate on projects.

The Cast Shape 1 Suspension Lamp is one such collaborative effort. The design was inspired by the traditional plumb bob, a weight hanging from a line that has been used since ancient times. It embodies Menu's inclination towards minimalism with its clean, classic lines. It looks good on its own or in a cluster over large spaces such as a family dining table. It also works well in commercial spaces including meeting rooms, restaurants and hotel lobbies. The Cast Shape 1 Suspension Lamp is made of cast aluminium and has a height of 12cm, a diameter of 12cm and a cable length of 400cm.
