The Androgyne Side Table was designed by Danielle Sigerud for the brand Menu.
Based in Copenhagen, the Norway-born Sigerud is in tune with the finest contemporary Scandinavian design. Her approach blends architecture and home product design, helping to ensure that the structures of her pieces are as efficient and attractive as possible and that form and function fuse seamlessly. Sigerud's affinity for fine materials also guarantees high production values, with every choice reflecting detailed thought and meticulous planning.
The Androgyne Side Table is a great example. Possessing a round tabletop, it stands 44.8cm tall and has a diameter of 43cm, so is a relatively compact piece. The finely processed natural marble tabletop is supported by a cross-shaped base that uses wafer-thin sheets of steel to lend the whole design a classically minimalist feel. The decision to include a lozenge-shaped hole in the centre of the base is a neat, playful addition which adds to the table's visual appeal. It's an ideal option for coffee breaks in conservatories, or for storing books in the bedroom. Balancing practicality and artistic features, it will grace bedrooms, living rooms and anywhere else that requires a little extra storage space.
