This stylish and functional 1966 Richard Schultz Chair with Armrest was designed by Richard Schultz for the American label Knoll International.

Knoll International was formed by Hans Knoll in New York City in 1938 as a one-man furniture producing operation. Knoll's marriage to designer Florence Schust in 1946 led to the adoption of the Bauhaus approach and an influx of many talented designers. These luminaries, including Eero Saarinen and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, created iconic items such as the Florence Knoll 2 Seater Sofa, the Barcelona Chair and the 1966 Collection.

Clean and simple in style, this 1966 Richard Schultz Chair with Armrest was part of a set of outdoor items designed for Florence Knoll as tough and elegant pieces for her retirement home in Florida. Fashioned from hardy, powder-coated aluminium, the chair is tough enough to resist sun, acid rain, salt and other contaminants - it just keeps on looking good. The back and seat are made from plant mesh material for pliable comfort. With a height of 79cm, a width of 59cm and a depth of 61.5cm, the chair is an ideal seat for relaxing on the terrace, in the garden or beside the pool.
