The Maui Soft Armchair was created by Vico Magistretti for Kartell.
Since 1949, this Italian design label has been a world leader in the production of contemporary furniture. The brand has always collaborated with talented designers such as Vico Magistretti, a pioneer in the 20th-century field of mass-produced appliances and furniture. His work is exhibited in the world's most important museums and he has gathered many prizes such as the Gold Medal of the Chartered Society of Industrial Artists & Designers.
Vico Magistretti created the curved shell Maui Soft Armchair between 1995 and 1996, a cutting-edge design that heralded a new era of single-moulded seating with no ribbing, supports or back reinforcements. Kartell reissued the chair in 2012 giving it a new appeal with a fabric cover. Its elegant organic lines are enhanced by the free-standing armrests giving an attractive and versatile chair that works in any contemporary home or office setting. The frame is produced from chromed steel while the seat and back are made of padded nylon covered with 100% Trevira fabric. The dimensions of the Maui Soft Armchair are 58 x 77 x 52 cm and the item can be stacked up to four high.
