The FL/Y Metallic Suspension Lamp was created by Ferruccio Laviani for the Italian label Kartell.
Established in 1949 by Giulio Castelli, Kartell uses talented designers to create contemporary and innovative plastic lighting. The label's designs work just as well in the home as in offices and public spaces. Ferruccio Laviani became well known for his iconic Bourgie Lamp that now provides inspiration for other designers.
Wherever it is used, the FL/Y Metallic Suspension Lamp creates an effective pool of light while its glossy metallic surface makes a stunning design feature. A clever use of geometry adds to the visual appeal and effectiveness of the design. This is achieved by the use of a domed shade that is not a perfect hemisphere. The FL/Y Metallic Suspension Lamp is crafted from transparent polymethacrylate that appears to sparkle when illuminated. The globe of the lamp is 52cm in diameter and 33cm deep with a cable that can be adjusted from 48cm to 223cm. This makes the lamp suitable for any setting, both domestic or public. It looks particularly striking when clustered together at different heights. A 25W E27 IBA bulb is included with the lamp.
