This I Ricchi Poveri Bzzzz Table lamp was designed for the Ingo Maurer label by Maurer himself and could be the last word in minimalist table lighting.
Maurer is a German design veteran (born in 1932), whose designs have become classics in the lighting genre. Works like "Bulb", which appeared in the 1960s, were quickly assimilated into museum collections, as curators saw that Maurer was one of minimalism's leading talents. His success has been so great that Compasso d'Oro awarded him a career achievement garland in 2011, and his influence has been enormous.
Now, thanks to Maurer's own label, lighting fans can enjoy models like the I Ricchi Poveri Bzzzz Table lamp in their own homes. It has a striking design, with an incredibly slender spine and a bare bulb at one end. On top of the 35W halogen bulb, Maurer has mounted a whimsical element by adding a dragonfly to symbolise his love of nature.
Aside from this beautifully conceived aluminium dragonfly, the lamp is made from a robust blend of steel and brass, ensuring that the slim core will provide plenty of support for the bulb. Standing 53cm tall, it will be a superb addition to anyone's study.
