The Canned Light Ceiling/Wall Lamp was designed by Christoph Matthias and Hagen Sczech for Ingo Maurer.
Maurer is a German industrial designer specialising in modern lighting. He founded his lighting design company in the 1960s, offering a completely new style of illumination piece at the time. One of his most famous designs is 'Bulb' (created in 1966) which is on display in design museums worldwide. Mauer has said that he considers his designs as successful when they trigger emotions within people, an idea that captures the very essence of his products.
A highlights of the Canned Light Ceiling/Wall Lamp are its modern shape and unconventional lamp shade which appears to be a can of Campbell's tomato soup and is made from aluminium to guarantee longevity. The can itself measures 14cm in height, 9cm in width and has a lightbulb and reflector. The lamp itself comes with a socket, cable and on/off switch. It can be either hung from the ceiling or on the wall.
The Canned Light Ceiling/Wall Lamp is sure to be a talking point and will look particularly good over a kitchen table, a desk or small side table.
