The J104 Chair Water-Based Lacquered has been created by Poul M. Volther for the brand HAY. The late Danish designer Volther was one of the greatest movers of Scandinavian functionalism in regard to industrial design. A number of his pieces are precious collectables today that can be viewed in prestigious art museums. Some, like the J104 Chair Water-Based Lacquered he designed in the 1960s, are available today. Manufactured by HAY, it is a reproduction of the original. Made from solid beech, it is a cross between an easy chair and a dining chair. It has a wide, curved backrest and a seat that is also curved and well-sized. The two are joined by spindle-shaped wooden rods that resemble the legs on which the chair stands. It is part of the brand's 2011 relaunch of Danish furniture classics. In 2021, the brand made a switch from using paints to applying water-based finishes such as water-based lacquer. This is how the chair got its name.
The J104 Chair Water-Based Lacquered has a width of 57cm, a depth of 47cm and a height of 73cm. It has a seat depth of 40.5cm and a seat height of 44.5cm. It is a timeless and elegant chair that will never go out of style.
