The Paradis 2-Seater Sofa was created by the gifted Swedish designer and architect Kerstin Hörlin-Holmquist for the Danish Design House Gubi.
Throughout her design career, Holmquist was known for her commitment to focussing on her own individual style rather than following the trends of the day. Designed as part of the Paradiset collection in 1956-1957, the timeless Paradis 2-Seater Sofa still looks as good in today's living rooms and homes as it did when it graced homes in the late 1950s. The sofa fits with ease into a range of décors and room styles, true to the designer's vision that furniture should be adaptable to its setting. With simple lines and a curved backrest, the sofa imparts a romantic, elegant look to its environment.
The frame is made of solid beech that is supported by solid wood legs in light or dark lacquered oak. The sofa is fully upholstered using polyurethane foam and a selection of fabrics, with matching button detailing across the backrest and hand-sewn piping providing the finishing touches. At 180cm in width, 89cm in height and 86cm deep, the Paradis 2-Seater Sofa offers generous seating for two people.
