The Storage Basket was designed by Benjamin Hubert for the brand Fritz Hansen.
Winner of multiple awards, including the Red Dot Design Award and the London Design Museum's Design of the Year, Benjamin Hubert is at the forefront of a new generation of designers who are looking to the future whilst creating new heirlooms.
Made from solid wood, the Storage Basket evokes the countryside with an urban twist. It provides a convenient and uncluttered place to store newspapers, magazines, notebooks and other daily ephemera. Pleasing to carry from room to room, or into the garden, the basket looks attractive on the floor or on a table or shelving area. More multi-functional than a newspaper rack, the Storage Basket tray is both light and sturdy and will not tip over. Ingeniously, the handle extends beneath the basket to create two stabilising feet and the gentle curve of the basket is both a surface and a container. The base is created from a pressure moulded veneer with a delicate visible grain. The smooth handle, formed from steam bent wood, is tall (36.5cm) and easily graspable. The tray measures 53 x 37 cm; proportions that are both commodious and discreet.
