The beautiful Mirror oval was created by Studio Roso for Danish furniture company Fritz Hansen.
Founded almost 150 years ago, Fritz Hansen still subscribes to the philosophy it began with; that an item of furniture can both beautify a room and enhance the wellbeing of those who use that room. This ethos is shared by the design duo behind Studio Roso, whose work has appeared in London's Victoria and Albert Museum.
The designers' emphasis on the ability of their pieces to work as installations as much as furniture is very much evident in the craftsmanship of the Mirror oval. Made from glass and lacquered MDF, it is the rainbow-like colours of the glass, so reminiscent of the sea, that make the Mirror oval such a stand-out piece. A superb alternative to a traditional painting or other piece of artwork, the mirror draws the onlooker's eye no matter where it is placed. Measuring 56 x 84 cm, the mirror can be placed either vertically or horizontally, and is large enough to be eminently practical while remaining so bewitching that it is impossible not to look into it over and over again.
