The stylish Cheshire Suspension Lamp was created by GamFratesi for famous Italian design company Fontana Arte.
Fontana Arte was founded by Luigi Fontana in 1881. The Milan-based company started off producing glass for the construction industry, and since then, it has become internationally recognised as a leader in the lighting design world. The Cheshire Suspension Lamp is the brainchild of GamFratesi. The design duo was founded in 2006 by architects Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi, and it creates pieces the exude classic Scandinavian style but also have a taste of Italian luxury. In 2014, they were named as the guest of honour at Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair.
The Cheshire Suspension Lamp is a lesson in simplicity. It's frosted polycarbonate shade has a gently rounded shape that takes inspiration from the Cheshire Cat, a rotund character from the novel 'Alice in Wonderland'. It has metal fixings and a thin, unobtrusive cord. The lamp is part of a collection that comes in different shades, sizes and styles, and these can be paired together to form a coherent scheme. It has a height of 34cm, diameter of 35cm and a cable length of 300cm. It takes 3x fluorescent compact E27 / 23W lightbulbs.
