This enchanting Ashanghai Table Lamp was designed by Max Ingrad for the Italian label Fontana Arte.
FontanaArte is a venerable institution whose history dates back to 1881, when it was formed in Milan. Initially producing glass items for construction, the firm began to craft lamps and furniture, utilising the techniques used to make stained-glass windows. So timeless are the creations that items designed many decades ago are still produced today. These include the Tavolo Con Ruote coffee table on wheels and the Bilia table lamp, which dates back to 1931. The striking balance between contemporary design and innovative glass art ensures these products will be perennially popular.
Simple in form but extravagant in design, the Ashanghai Table Lamp is a limited re-edition of the original which was designed back in 1955. It features a lampshade of white hand-blown glass perched on chrome-plated brass base which is held in position by six rods of borosilicate glass. With a height of 77cm and a diameter of 47cm, the lamp features a dimmer to give users total control over the illumination. The Ashanghai Table Lamp makes a striking centrepiece and an effective lighting solution for large rooms.
