The Bedside Gun table lamp by Flos was designed by one of the most famous representatives of new design in 2005: Philippe Starck.
This table lamp stands for design dedicated to politics: the Bedside Gun table lamp is seen as a strange tabu-breaker, and yet the message is very simple: With his extravagant Gun lamps, of which the Bedside Gun is a part, Starck wants to point towards the governments' international traffic in arms. The gold-plated stock of one of the Bedside Gun's versions provokes associations of the terrible combination between war and profit.
Flos donates twenty percent of their winnings from the Guns Collection to the "Frères des HOmmes Europe Association". This is a European organisation (NRO) for international cooperation, founded in 1969 in Italy. Its goal is to assist underdeveloped countries like Africa, Asia, and South America with economic and social plans.
The Bedside Gun lamp body is made of a 18K gold-plated, die cast aluminium alloy. The mat black paper shade features a gold-plated silk screen print on the inside. The Bedside Gun light is available in different colours, please see the Bedside Gun "product versions for detailed information.
