The Kissino Garden Side Table was created by Miki Astori for the Driade label. With its economical, minimalist look and intelligent use of materials, it will be a handy addition to gardens and interior spaces of all types.
Hailing from Milan in northern Italy, Astori began as an architect in the early 1990s but found his feet as a product designer under Philippe Starck, working with big names like Flos, Xo and Driade. In fact, since 1995, he has served as the latter's lead design consultant, steering an ambitious team to tackle ever more impressive projects.
Few endeavours have been as interesting as his Kissino collection of stools and tables, which seek to create pieces with multiple functions. For example, the Kissino Garden Side Table functions as a useful compact table but can also be flipped and used as a lamp. In outdoor settings, it can be used for both functions, providing a source of light and a place to store drinks. This version of the Kissino table measures 45 x 45 cm and is made from a single block of processed polyethylene, allowing it to cast light efficiently while keeping the weight low.
