The Mantis BS4 L Suspension Lamp was designed by Bernard Schottlander for the brand DCW.
Inspired by the shape of a praying mantis, Bernard Schottlander, an industrial product designer, sculpted a rotating lamp with a head connected to a long arm. This inspirational lighting solution produced by DCW is making waves in the interior design industry.
The Mantis BS4 L Suspension Lamp is part of the MANTIS collection of precision lighting mechanisms that, thanks to a clever use of counterweights, seem to defy the law of gravity and embody sculptural movement and poetic balance. Measuring 55cm in width, the Mantis BS4 L Suspension Lamp features a horizontal tilting arm that allows the user to direct light to the desired space. The aluminium shade or diffuser, 27cm in diameter, is created using spinning and chasing metalwork techniques that give it the appearance of helical movement. Thanks to its lightweight nature (3kg only), this luminaire can be easily moved around the home from the living room and dining room to the kitchen. The base diameter is 11cm and the lamp's lengthy arm makes it ideal for suspending from higher ceilings. An LED bulb of 11W maximum wattage is recommended.
