Bincan Umbrella Stand

The Bincan Umbrella Stand was created by Naoto Fukasawa for the Italian design label Danese.

Since it was launched in Milan in 1957, Danese has been producing furniture and accessories for homes and public spaces. Its work brings together elements of photography, graphic design and the visual arts while always making use of environmentally-sound materials. Japanese-born Naoto Fukasawa started his career in the USA, designing microelectronic products such as watches before opening his own studio in Tokyo. He sits on many design advisory boards as well as acting as chairman of the Good Design Award.

Like all of Fukasawa's work, the Bincan Umbrella Stand is reduced to the essentials of form and function but then has a dose of humour added. This practical umbrella stand harmonises well with all furniture and decor schemes both in the home and office. It is made of fireproof ABS plastic and features a circular bin with a recessed notch from which a quirky umbrella handle emerges. The Bincan Umbrella Stand is 22.5cm in diameter and 85cm in height. It complements other Bincan products designed by Naoto Fukasawa.
