The deceptively simple Limited Edition CH23 Chair Frame Oak was created by the renowned danish designers Hans J. Wegner & Ilse Crawford for the firm Carl Hansen.
A giant of 20th century design, Wegner had a profound and lasting influence on the modernist Scandinavian style of furniture design which came to be one of the dominant aesthetics of the century. A natural stylist who prized function above all else, the multi-award-winning Wegner stated that wanted to create, "Unexceptional items of exceptional quality." This philosophy of applying the most rigorous processes to the humblest items led Wegner, an honorary member of the Royal Society of Arts, to create over 500 chair designs.
His aesthetic is immediately apparent in the Limited Edition CH23 Chair Frame Oak this chair, standing 78.5cm in height, is handsomely crafted in a light oak with a cord seat at a comfortable height of 44.5cm. As good looking as it is functional, its gently curved back-rest and finely turned legs give it a timeless elegance. It would work well grouped as part of a dining arrangement, but is strong enough to be an occasional chair, and its timeless appeal would work in a variety of design schemes.
