The Ameluna LED Suspension Lamp was designed by Mercedez Benz for Artemide.
This Italian luxury lighting company has a reputation for pioneering work, and it has broken new ground once again by joining forces with the respected German car manufacturer Mercedez Benz, a company that's brought to the piece many of the innovations its developed for the interior of its recent E-Class model.
Made of transparent acrylic glass and technopolymer, the Ameluna LED Suspension Lamp lives up to the "luna" part of its name by glowing with a soft, moon-like luminescence. Measuring 75cm in diameter and 15cm in depth, it has a curvaceous, asymmetrical form, not unlike a seashell. The light source is an intelligent, WiFi-enabled LED strip hidden along the outer rim of the lamp. This can be controlled via a smartphone app to create a wide variety of subtle lighting effects. The sum total is a high-tech, futuristic lamp that is versatile enough to be suitable not only for many entertainment venues but also for a range of contemporary homes, creating mood lighting over dinner tables and seating clusters or pools of illumination on kitchen islands and study areas.
