The Karuselli Lounge Chair was designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro for the brand Artek .

One of Finland's most renowned furniture brands, Artek was founded in 1935 by a group of pioneers who injected modernist design principles into the core of the company ethos. One of Finland's greatest designers, Yrjö Kukkapuro created the Karuselli Lounge Chair over 50 years ago and it fast became a design classic. According to legend, Kukkapuro fell during winter and was inspired by the way his body moulded into and was cocooned by the soft snow.

Inspired by the futurism trends of the 20th century, the chair is highly functional, comfortable and pleasingly solid. The flower-like fibreglass base is affixed to a steel stand that holds the main body of the chair, which is also constructed from tough fibreglass. The chair has been ergonomically designed to create a comfortable nest for the body and is upholstered in high-quality Sörensen Prestige leather and stuffed with PU foam. The chair can be easily adjusted from a sit-up position to a full-tilt, simply by putting pressure on the back of the chair. The Karuselli Lounge Chair measures 97.5cm in height, 80cm in width and is 92cm deep.
