Eames Wire Chair DKR

The Eames Wire Chair DKR by Vitra was designed in the year 1951 by Charles & Ray Eames.

The Eames Wire Chair DKR is a variation of the re-edition of the legendary "fibreglass chair", which was first designed for the "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition held by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. With the Wire Chair the Eames couple modified the theme of the organically shaped, single-piece seat shell of the Eames Plastic Chairs. The Eames Wire Chair DKR's focus lies on transparency and technicity.

The Eames Wire Chair DKR by Vitra is entirely made of chrome-plated, welded steel wire. The chair has no upholstery, but on request seat and back cushions in different colours provide special comfort, please see the "available product types for detailed information.

DKR stands for Dining height K-wire shell R-wire base, the legs of the chair are made up of several elements that partially run parallel, their look reminds us of the Eiffel Tower, which gave it the name Eiffel Tower base. The Eames Wire Chair DKR is also available in a version with a four-legged steel tube base, known as DKX.
