The Steelwood chair, a new project by Ronan & Erwan Boouroullec for Magis, is now available and in stock. A chair with high technical contents, made of steel plate and solid beech, as the name itself suggests.
The Steelwood chair is a radical assembly of two traditional materials: steel and wood. Unlike its plastic siblings, it is aimed to become more delicate through time, acquiring a patina over use and years. The steel forming process requires deep technological research due to its unique and intricate shape. It led to the final process which requires almost ten successive stamping stages in order to get the right curvature. |
