The ash fall down along the cactus into the recipient. And this one can be filled with water to neutralize the smell. Joe Cactus can also be used as a fragance dispenser if you put an aromatic oil on the water.
This project (together with Smoki Christiani, Berta Youssouf, O'Kelvin, Mimi Bayou and Liberté/Pensées/Secrets) was originally produced by the small French company Owo of Montfort L'Amaury of Patricia Bayler, in which Starck was a partner. The company was taken over by Alessi in 1996 and the most interesting products were included in the catalogue.
