Warm, white light illuminates the room: The lamps from the Castore collection by Artemide are delicate glass balls that create pleasantly bright, diffused lighting. The ball or drop-shaped diffuser disperses the light into the petering out stem, that is part of the Castore lamp and emphasises its shape and lightness. This way a soft transition is created from bright to soft light, and the suspension or base of the Castore lamp lies in shadows and is hardly noticable. It looks as if the lamps from the Castore collection were floating through the room.
With the Castore collection the Italian traditional manufacturer Artemide succeeded in creating glare-free, first-class lamps. The designer duo Huub Ubbens from the Netherlands and the Italian Michele de Lucchi designed the Castore collection in 2003 for Artemide, the hand-blown glass lamps are available in threeverions; The Castore lamps as Castore Terra floor lamp, as Castore Tavolo table lamp, as well as Castore Sospensione suspension lamp. The designer lamps are available in four sizes, only the Castore Terra floor lamp is only available in two.
All Castore lamps are equipped with a dimmer, with which the light intensity is individually adjustable. Every lamp from the Castore collection, save for the smallest, whose dimmer is located on the on/off-switch, feature a touch dimmer that regulates and saves the luminosity of the lamps. The Castore lamps each take any illuminant with their E27 socket.
Castore lamps seem to be made entirely of light, they look surprisingly light and almost as if they were floating. Presented with the DesignPlus award the Castore collection fulfills the philosophy of the design manufacturer Artemide by being fully adapted to the needs of people and raising your quality of life with bright, glare-free light. Castore lamps illuminate private spaces as well as creating a comfortable atmosphere in offices. And they answer every question by their co-creator de Lucchi of how technology can be combined with a piece of humanity: with Castore lamps!
