Tilos collection
The Tilos collection by designer Ernesto Gismondi, one of the founders of the nowadays world famous lighting manufacturer Artemide, is a bathroom light that gives off bright, white light without blinding your eyes. With its simple look the lamps from the Tilos collection fit in with nearly every furnishing style.
The convexly shaped Tilos lamps are available in two sizes, as Tilos 200 with 200 mm or Tilos 150 with 150 mm diameter. This way the lamps from the Tilos collection can be wonderfully arranged as single lamps, but also in a group or row. With their high luminosity a very effective example of their application is along the sides of a mirror.
The lampshade of the Tilos lamps is made of satined glass and encircled by a chrome-plated ring. The lamps from the Tilos collection can be fitted with a matted light bulb or one with a mirrored dome. The glass shade of the Tilos lamp can be individually replaced.
The Tilos collection is available in aforementioned sizes in the four colours white, aquamarine, blue, and apricot. Included in the Tilos collection is also the Tilos Dicroica. This Tilos lamp features a concave shape instead of the convex, which hides the illuminant.
Since his early childhood the creator of the Tilos collection, Ernesto Gismondi, was interested in future-oriented technologies and materials. After studying aerospace engineering he founded the company Artemide together with Sergio Mazza in the year 1959. In cooperation with renowned designers the Italian design manufacturer produces pioneering lamps. In this context Artemide initiated “My White Light” in 2006, a concept that equips lamps with individually adjustable white light. Gismondi himself also designed numerous lamps within his own company, in the year 1993 is was the Tilos collection!
